Ópera

Back
A tinkling sound of heels coming down the theatre house's marble staircase. Step by step in the pizzicato rhythm, the Ópera named shoe collection inspired by the ephemeral life of ballet is brought to the Czech Centre in Milan. Oldrich Voyta, a designer who graduated originally from Prague Ballet Conservatoire, took his inspiration in his past, the roots he is still connected with today. As a former ballet dancer, Oldrich realised the need for luxury for feet. Feet are the instrument of a dancer's body. They need to be cherished and cared for. This author collection represents the romanticism aesthetic of ballet performances, the fragility of the theatre esprit, which was photographically captured at the National Theatre in Prague. Nevertheless, the shape of the shoe is specifically transformed. The width of the shoe-last is enhanced in the toe part, and the arch is rose up with biomechanically suitable support. 100% of the upper material is up-cycled in collaboration with Czech upholstery company Polstrin. To have a chance to bring change in the footwear industry in the Czech Republic, Oldrich works as a leading researcher at Tomas Bata University in Zlin, where at the Footwear Research Centre, the whole collection was hand-sewn and prepared for today's exhibition.
As a signature, Oldrich work connects art and design, together with function and cruelty-free materials, so it please not just the eyes but also the wearer's well-being and maximises the pro-environmental paths of manufacturing.
